The Winnipeg Folk Festival, one of North America’s longest running and most popular music festivals, has selected McKim Cringan George as its partner for creative and strategic marketing services for the upcoming 2010 season.

“Through a competitive selection process MCG showed a deep understanding of our diverse needs and is a strong fit for our organization,” said Tamara Kater, Executive Director of the Winnipeg Folk Festival. “We look forward to working with MCG as they put their creativity and expertise to work on our brand and help us open a new chapter in our strategic development.”

Plans include enriching the festival experience for the audience, volunteers and performers and creating more awareness around the education programs and concert performances the Winnipeg Folk Festival organizes the other 360 days of the year.

“The Winnipeg Folk Festival is one of the biggest music festivals of its kind in North America, and we’re thrilled to have been selected,” said MCG’s President and CEO, Peter George. “We’re excited about appealing to the Festival’s enormous international clientele and bringing even more of that group to Manitoba.”

Over the next several months, the agency will develop design concepts and layouts for website, brochures, posters, the program book and merchandising.

The Winnipeg Folk Festival was first held in 1974. It draws performers, artists and spectators from around the world to Bird’s Hill Park, located near Winnipeg. The festival will be held July 7 to 11, 2010. The Winnipeg Folk Festival is also a year-round arts organization that benefits the community through education and outreach programs, live music performances, kids’ programs, arts events and musical training. The Winnipeg Folk Festival owns and operates a permanent music store in the heart of Winnipeg in the Exchange District.
