Save-On-Foods, a chain of supermarkets in Western Canada, required an agency to help plan and execute the announcement of its major expansion into Manitoba and Saskatchewan. McKim was engaged to provide communications and logistics support, and to engage community and potential stakeholders in press events to take place in Winnipeg and Regina on the same day in two week’s time.

The agency provided local insight, message management and connection to local stakeholders and dignitaries, as well as regional media relations support. We also assisted with announcement planning, scheduling support, media material preparation, launch day execution and support, and post-event follow-up.

All media outlets in both cities attended the announcements and covered the story positively. In the first 24 hours, 17 news stories resulted, earning 130,000 online views and about 5,500 shares via social media. In Winnipeg, where the first announcement took place and a community celebration was staged, over 1,000 members of the public attended.
