The McKim Building unveiling

The agency is pleased to announce that it recently acquired our building’s naming rights and as of today, it will be called the McKim Building. The Crocus Building sign has been removed, and the McKim name and logo have been installed at 211 Bannatyne Avenue, including the large vertical sign on Main St.

“Renaming this historical site as The McKim Building is indicative of a new chapter for a building that has had a significant role in the story of downtown Winnipeg,” says Peter George, referring to the building’s origins as the J. H. Ashdown Hardware store, a major hardware store at the turn of last century.

McKim moved from River and Osborne to 211 Bannatyne Avenue in 2005, both for the visibility and location in the center of Winnipeg’s growing creative, professional and business community. Hundreds and thousands of pedestrians, bikes and vehicles come into contact with the building every day. George says the being in the heart of Winnipeg’s Exchange District and the proximity to many of McKim’s clients has been great for the business.

McKim Communications Group is a long-time tenant and one of the building owners. The agency uses about 10,000 sq. ft. of the space it owns in the building, and is hoping to find commercial tenants to buy or lease the remaining 9,000 sq. ft.

Other building tenants include Winnipeg’s Contemporary Dancers, Winnipeg Folk Festival, and Across the Board Café, which has been relocated to The McKim Building and opens its doors soon.

Read about it in the Winnipeg Free Press, the Winnipeg Sun, or on the CBC Manitoba website.
