McKim was engaged in 2015 to create a public education campaign to help the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority increase condom carrying and usage, as well as battle high rates of chlamydia among young, sexually-active people in Winnipeg. The campaign was designed to bring attention to the fact that in Canada, Winnipeg has the highest incidence of the STI, a potentially serious infection that is asymptomatic in the majority of people. A simple, impactful graphic approach connects the use of condoms with protecting oneself, and encourages the target audience to carry and use condoms. Media included a significant digital component that included geotargeted mobile and online ads, retargeting based on online behaviour and paid social media. The agency also refreshed the client’s website.
